MINDFULNESS

RETREATS

"What a wonderful retreat - and  treat - in such a beautiful and restorative environment in the mountains of New Mexico.  I am aware of a subtle "shift" within, an enhanced awareness of pausing and leaning toward releasing ingrained habits of mind."

Carol Pangburn, PHD, Boise

INSIGHT WITH KINDNESS

Mindfulness retreats at Casa Primera Luz offer beginners the experience of an extended period of meditation practice

as well as providing depth for experienced meditators.

“Mindfulness” is the art of bringing focused attention to our

sensory experience and thoughts in the moment.

It is a gentle practice that has numerous benefits for our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Paying attention to our sensations, thoughts and feelings is challenging. At Path of Heart we have a strong emphasis on being kind and patient with ourselves while we attempt to tame our “monkey mind” and achieve a deeper sense of peace and quiet.

The stillness and peace of Casa Primera Luz provides the ideal surrounding for mindfulness practice: The trees, beautiful rock formations and charming trails offer connection and grounding during the 2 days of inner focus and insight.

STRUCTURE OF MINDFULNESS RETREATS

We begin with an introductory talk on Friday evening after which we go into silence till Sunday noon. Numerous meditation practices including mindful breathing, body scan and loving kindness meditation are offered over the course of the retreat. We practice some gentle yoga and Quigong plus several mindful walks are scheduled. The retreat ends on Sunday after lunch.

During this precious time of turning inward, we refrain from screen time, texting, reading and writing to give ourselves a real chance to unplug from our usual distractions. Participants are encouraged to let family and friends know that this is a time of no contact. An emergency contact will be provided before the retreat.

"It was an inspiring weekend, soulful and reinforcing why it is so important for me

to slow down.  The stillness and peace embraced me. I hope to return, it was a special gathering."
