BIO KATRIN

Katrin on the ridge web.jpg

I was born and raised in West Germany. In 2005 I moved to the states to be with my husband and decided to start a second career as a counselor. I earned my Masters Degree in social work at Boise State University in 2011 and completed my clinical training in 2014 working with teenagers and adults at Awake and Aware LLC, a mental health clinic in Albuquerque, NM.

I trained intensively in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and have a special interest in all promising treatments for the effects of trauma. I offer EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and am deeply rooted in a mindfulness based therapy approach.

My sessions reflect the fruits of a 30 year dedicated meditation practice; a comical amount of tools, skills, techniques and tons of experience working with people in group settings and one on one. By means of hundreds of hours of contemplative practices, I have developed a high degree of compassionate space holding. Each client is met as a soul who is seeking "home". My guidance is gentle and trusting in your own inner knowing.

I received substantial help from mentors, teachers, friends and books. My joy and interest in learning continues. I am currently studying with the Couples Institute in Calofornia to gain a better skill set for couples work.
